12 Common Reasons AdSense Applications Are Rejected (and How to Fix Them)
A rejection email from AdSense is frustrating, especially when the message only gives a general reason. The good news is that most rejections come from a short list of fixable problems. Work through this list before you request another review.
1. Low-value content
This is the most common reason. It usually means pages are short, repetitive, copied, or do not answer a reader’s question better than other sites. Fix it by writing longer, original articles based on real knowledge, adding examples, steps and clear explanations.
2. Not enough content
A site with only a handful of posts looks unfinished. Aim for at least 20 to 30 substantial articles before applying, all related to your main topic.
3. Site under construction
Placeholder pages, demo content from your theme, empty categories and “coming soon” sections signal that the site is not ready. Delete sample posts and pages, and hide empty menus.
4. Missing essential pages
Add an About page that explains who runs the site, a Contact page with a working way to reach you, and a Privacy Policy that mentions cookies and third-party advertising.
5. Poor navigation
Reviewers need to find your content easily. Use a clear menu, logical categories, internal links between related articles and a footer with your policy pages.
6. Copyrighted or scraped material
Republishing articles, images or videos you do not have rights to will lead to rejection. Use your own images, properly licensed stock photos, or images you created.
7. Policy-restricted topics
Adult content, hacking tutorials, pirated downloads, violent or shocking material and dangerous products are not allowed. Even a few such pages can affect the whole site.
8. Site not reachable
If the review crawler cannot load your site because of downtime, a firewall, a broken SSL certificate or a redirect loop, the review fails. Test your site from different networks and make sure HTTPS works on both the root domain and the www version.
9. AdSense code not found
Place the code in the <head> of every page and clear any caching plugin afterwards. If you changed themes after applying, check that the code is still there.
10. Duplicate or auto-generated pages
Tag pages, search result pages and thin archive pages can look like duplicate content. Consider setting them to noindex with your SEO plugin.
11. Misleading layout
Do not place images or buttons that look like ads, and avoid designs that trick visitors into clicking. Keep the reading experience clean.
12. Account or traffic issues
If the account was previously disabled or the site received suspicious traffic, the application may be refused. Only use legitimate traffic sources, and never buy bot traffic.
Before you reapply
Read your site as a stranger would. Ask whether each page deserves to exist and whether a visitor would trust it. Fix the problems, wait until the changes are indexed, then request a new review. Rushing back with the same site rarely produces a different result.
